Today Was Glorious

So today was just all around awesome. Besides having my one shitty class, Corporate Communications, at 9 am, it was sunny, I was feeling way better, I got some work done, and I explored town a bit and got to shoot. Definitely nice to finally have a good day in a lot of senses.

It's Thursday afternoon and my weekend started at 9:50 this morning, what a tough life. I still haven't heard back from the rugby team, and I'm getting a little antsy to get out and join some sort of club or sport so I can meet some English kids.

Having Skype, being on e-mail all day, and having Facebook having definitely helped me stay connected and get over the hump of adjusting because they give me an anchor to the familiar. I don't want to start using them as a crutch though, to make everything easy and to keep me from fully exploring/expanding/experiencing the world I'm only in for a few months.

Here are some pics from today:

Damn Insurance

Quick update before I head off to bed. I've been pretty sick for the last few days and it hasn't gotten any better today. Night sweats, fever, crazy dreams, ridiculously sore throat, overall shittiness. So I went to the doctor yesterday to get some help, and found out the insurance that BC provided us doesn't work at Lancaster's health center so I'd have to pay out of pocket and then get reimbursed. Screw that; I went to the pharmacy on campus and got some throat lasengers and hoped that would cure it all.

Obviously I'd make a horrible doctor (and what kind of parent will I be?!) as I woke up this morning feeling just as awful and cursing those damn cough drops which didn't do anything. Sucked it up and went to the health center, shelled out 50 pnds! for a doctor's appointment, and found out I had been working with strep throat for the last few days. That explains a lot. Luckily I got a prescription (they are not very willing to give out antibiotics here apparently and believe in riding things out, which isn't altogether bad) and got my week's worth of penicillin which should lead me back to the glory land of good health. God, next Tuesday will be the most amazing day ever!

Went down to Fylde Bar tonight (the bar on campus that my "college" owns) to watch a bit of a football (that's right America, it's not soccer and to fit in I had to learn that quickly) and just hang out with people. Being relatively social again and knowing that I'm bound to get better now put me in a good mood, and now I've just got to finish up a little more work and then off to bed.

We got a touch of snow last night (as in it snowed for about 10 minutes w/ no accumulation) and today was a glorious day where the sun was out for about 5 of the hours I was awake. Interesting how everything is relative.
